A single vine can naturally bear several fruits. Yet we keep only the finest one and remove every other fruit, allowing the vine to devote all its strength to that single melon.

This is Ichiboku Ikka — “one tree, one fruit,” a steadfast promise that has defined Crown Melon for more than a century.

Heritage of Shizuoka

Over a Century of History

Est. 1921

Greenhouse melon cultivation began in Fukuroi, Shizuoka, the home of Crown Melon, in 1921. Over more than a century, growers have carried forward the spirit of Ichiboku Ikka while continually advancing the techniques needed to create the ultimate melon, including the development of dedicated glass greenhouses.
